Introduction

Eddy Gordo (エディ・ゴルド Edi Gorudo) first appeared in Tekken 3, and he has returned to every game released after. In Tekken 4 and Tekken 5, he was merely a "costume" swap for Christie Monteiro. However, in Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection onward, he is given his own character space again.

Debuting at Tekken 3, Eddy's family was once one of Brazil's most notable families, being not only rich but also playing an important role in terms of the law. Eddy's father would later be fatally shot, during his attempt to destroy a drug cartel, before dying, he told his son to admit to killing his father, in order to stay in prison as protection from any further attempts at their family. It was during this time that Eddy met his master. During a prison riot, Eddy witnessed the old man's skill in Capoeira and requested to be taught in the art. Finishing his prison time after eight long years, Eddy swore to finally get revenge on his father's killer, but not before he repaid his debt to his master by teaching his granddaughter. Deciding to lay low momentarily, Eddy later resurfaced when his master was finally released, but the terminal illness that had plagued him, had begun taking its toll, turning the once, great Capoeira master, into a disheveled old man. Unable to win the next tournament, Eddy forced himself to serve the winner, Jin Kazama, in his world conquest to save the old man. Though clearly shocked and reluctant, Eddy used to serve Jin loyally, in the hopes that his master will finally be cured, but in the end, his master died because of his sickness and Eddy left his ranks in anger. An interesting note is that Eddy's dialogue with Wang implies that Eddy's master has passed away during the sixth tournament, but the master actually died at the end of the tournament. He would later build and run an orphanage in his name back in his hometown of Brazil, as seen in his TTT2 ending.

An overall cool-headed and laid-back person, Eddy lived an enviable life, having a loving family, retaining a good personality, and being more blessed in terms of material belongings. However, the loss of his family and blessings at the hands of an unknown drug group. Later it would be revealed that Kazuya Mishima was responsible for the death of Eddy's father, something that Eddy would eventually learn himself. With his prison time, Eddy looked up to his master as a father figure, being taught rigorously for eight years, and in debt, Eddy would teach his master's granddaughter. In regards to Eddy's relationship with Christie, the two are extremely close. This is mainly due to Eddy being the one who taught Christie in the absence of her grandfather, this would eventually cause a bond so close, that fans speculate it to be a romantic one. Another noteworthy thing is that Eddy does his best to avoid Christie, hoping to not involve her with regards to him being a member of the Tekken Force, and Christie's immediate response to find Eddy after his many disappearances.

Early into his introduction, Eddy was thought to be an alter ego of Tiger Jackson this was somewhat disproved as Eddy's Tekken Tag Tournament ending. Later, in Tekken Tag Tournament 2, it was cited that the two are not related at all, and the art book of Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion reveals that Tiger was an unused concept of Eddy.

His title in the original trilogy is Avenger.

Story

Prologue (Manual)
Eddy was born into one of the richest families in Brazil. Since he was a small boy he knew he would one day take over the family business. He was well-liked in his hometown because he was a hard worker who treated others as his equals.
One day, when he was 19, Eddy came home from school to find his father shot and dying. He recalled that his father had been unusually nervous and fearful in recent weeks.
Eddy's father working to destroy the drug cartel in Brazil. His untimely death occurred just when he had obtained enough evidence to put the kingpins away for good. In his last breaths, Eddy's father told him, "Now is not the right time to fight. Falsely admit to the crime and hide in prison. Only there will you be safe". Eddy went along with his father's last wish and the model student went from a life of luxury to incarceration as a murderer.
Prison life was hell and not a day went by that Eddy didn't vow to get even with his father's killers. One day during a prison riot he watched an old man with great power fighting using a technique he called Capoeira. For 8 years, Eddy practiced until he became a master and could be considered a lethal weapon.
Upon his release from prison, Eddy heard about the 'King of Iron Fist Tournament 3' and the MFE. He decided to enter the tournament, believing he could persuade the MFE to help him seek his long-awaited revenge.
Ending (Unofficial Synopsis)
"Seek the truth", a limo rolls up by a mansion. 23:00, Eddy looks out the window anxiously. An hour later, Eddy breaks into a druglord's mansion and violently attacks him. The druglord points to a table with photographs of Kazuya on it.

Story

Prologue (In-Game Text)
Christie is the granddaughter of the Capoeira master who taught Eddy Gordo the art of Capoeira during his incarceration in prison. While in prison, Eddy swore an oath to the master to pass on the art of Capoeira to his granddaughter. Eddy sought out Christie shortly after his return from The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3 and taught her the art of Capoeira, just as he promised his master. After only two years of tutelage, Eddy turned Christie into an impressive fighter. But soon thereafter, Eddy abruptly disappeared, leaving Christie only with the words, "I must seek vengeance against the enemy responsible for the death of my father." Troubled by his sudden and mysterious disappearance, Christie chases after Eddy with her only lead — The King of Iron Fist Tournament 4.
Ending (Unofficial Synopsis)
Christie Monteiro has defeated Heihachi Mishima and won the tournament. The audience is cheering for her, and people begin walking to her, taking photos of her and complimenting her about her victory. One man starts to interview her about her victory, and Christie is very nonchalant throughout this. A man in a suit walks up to her, holding a golden trophy that is shaped like Heihachi's head. Christie looks through the crowd and sees Eddy, who has a sling on one of his arms. Christie starts to run up to him while yelling, "Eddy!", twice. An echo of her saying this is heard after the second time she says it, and Christie runs up to him and hugs him. Eddy hugs her with his other arm (the arm that doesn't have a sling around it). Christie says, "Eddy...", and then she closes her eyes and smiles.

Eddy knew nothing about the Tekken Force, other than it was a private military outfit, but agreed to join if it would save his mentor. Eddy became a member of the Tekken Force and carried out plans of destruction around the world. Even though he knew the consequences of his actions, Eddy was unable to leave the Tekken Force.. When the Mishima Zaibatsu announced The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6, Eddy joined the tournament as a member of the Tekken Force in order to eliminate those who would threaten Jin.

He learned capoeira from an old man he met in prison in the hopes to exacting his revenge. After his release, he took over teaching the old man's granddaughter, Christie, capoeira. Once he learned that Kazuya Mishima was the one behind the syndicate that murdered his father, he tried to claim revenge but failed. Story

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is a non-canonical Tekken game containing no plot.

Ending (Unofficial Synopsis)

The screen first shows an orphanage that was supposedly built by Eddy. He is seen inside the orphanage teaching the children Capoeira. Later Christie is seen getting off a train and later heads off. Eddy leaves the children and tells them that he has things to do. A child asks Eddy if he is out for the man that killed his father. Eddy just tells the child to resume the training and that he will be back for them. Christie later arrives and asks the children of Eddy's whereabouts only to find out that he has already left. She later tries to chase him after giving the children the same advice Eddy had given them

Trivia

  • He has a special tag throw with Christie or Tiger. He will perform Rodeo spin around the opponents head and when they're confused he slams them to the ground and then his partner will perform "Slippery Kicks" and whoever is tagged in will perform "Perch Flop Kick" on the opponent from there. (this also applies vice versa among the three characters.)
  • His item move shows him hitting his opponent while dancing on a pole
  • Strangely his face in his own character box is a close up of his Tekken 6 BR CG art rather than his Tekken Tag Tournament 2 CG Art
  • This is the first time Eddy has spoken in his own ending and is also the first time since Christie's debut, for the two not to share an ending

"Eddie Gordo [sic] from Valencorp. Capoeira master. Underworld enforcer. There's a price on his head from a Neo-Salvadorian group. He's powerful, but he's easily frustrated." - Kazuya

Story (Unofficial Synopsis)

Eddy Gordo is featured in the live-action Tekken movie as one of the Iron Fist tournament's competitors, played by famous Capoeira practitioner Lateef Crowder. Representing the company Valencorp, he competes in the first match of the tournament, against G-Corp's Raven. Though the two seem evenly matched at first, Raven is eventually able to turn things around by blocking one of Eddy's strikes and hitting him with a low blow, which allows him to ground Eddy and beat him to a bloody pulp with a series of punches to the face.

Trivia

Eddy's name is misspelled as "Eddie".
Coincidentally, although Eddy and Christie have no connection in this film, when the tournament's fighters are being announced to the audience, Eddy is called up directly before her.
