Owned originally by Jinpachi Mishima, the Zaibatsu was taken over by Heihachi Mishima, who has run the company for over 40 years except for two brief interims. The companies grouped together in the syndicate include the Mishima Financial Empire, the mercenary group known as Tekken Force and Mishima Heavy Industries. The Mishima Zaibatsu is the main sponsor of the King of Iron Fist tournaments, the central events of the video games. Currently, the company is back under the control of Jinpachi Mishima, although the ending of Tekken 5 will ultimately change this (as Jinpachi's ending indicates the end of the world), it seems likely that Jin's ending will be canon and he will have inherited the conglomerate.

Ownership

The constant change of ownership of the Zaibatsu is one of the Tekken series' many little quirks. To date, there are four changes of ownership known:

• Over 40 years ago: Jinpachi Mishima lost the Zaibatsu to Heihachi.
• 24 years ago: Heihachi lost the Zaibatsu to Kazuya Mishima.
• 22 years ago: Kazuya lost the Zaibatsu to Heihachi.
• 2 months ago: Heihachi lost the Zaibatsu to Jinpachi.
• Currently: Jinpachi apparently lost the Zaibatsu to Jin, however it is not known if this event is canon.
