[edit] Story

[edit] Version 1 (From Tekken Zaibatsu and Sunlight Yellow)

The 5th King of the Iron Fist Tournament has ended with Heihachi Mishima missing and the eventual winner being Jin Kazama.

Jin Kazama then assumes the role as head of the Mishima Zaibatsu and begins using the special Tekken force units for propaganda and manipulative acts all over the world. Eventually many people become upset by this and it starts riots and eventually war amongst nations.

With the world now at war, many nations lose their power and the Mishima Zaibatsu declares itself as an independent nation.

The Mishima Zaibatsu is intent on conquering the world with only G Corporation to stand in its way. People around the world see G Corporation as a savior and G Corporation offers a price on Jin Kazama to anyone that can bring him in alive. The current chairman and CEO is of G Corporation is Kazuya Mishima.

Just as anyone could have expected, the announcement for the 6th King of Iron Fist Tournament was under way.

Those that want to make a name for themselves, those that seek money, and those that want revenge. Many different ideals and goals gather while the Tekken 6 tournament is unveiled.

[edit] Version 2 (From Arcadia Magazine)

The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5 came to a close. The final battle was against the sponsor of the tournament, Jinpachi Mishima, and Jin Kazama. Jin Kazama came away as the victor.

Becoming the president of the Mishima Zaibatsu, Jin immediately began various programs within the company and converted the Tekkenshu into a spy project. People began to suspect a darkness in Jin, leading to increased tension, infighting, and finally a full-scale war. The whole world was drawn in, and when the nations began losing power, the Zaibatsu, able to gain a profit from the potential of war, announced its independence and declared war on the entire world.

Initially, the Mishima Zaibatsu was a formidable enemy, but then G Corporation rose to the position of the main opposition to the Zaibatsu. The world saw the rival company as the savior, and endorsed them completely in their drive to suppress the Zaibatsu. Eventually, G Corporation announced that the president of the Mishima Zaibatsu was the root cause of the war, and promises an immense amount of money to anyone who can capture Jin Kazama alive. G Corporation's current chairman and CEO, Kazuya Mishima, took over the company after killing all those within it who betrayed him just before Tekken 5.

But, almost as if anticipating this move, the Mishima Zaibatsu announced the opening of The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6. People may enter to gain fame, money and revenge. In the midst of this chaos, the curtains rise on The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6.

[edit] Trailers

Several trailers have already been released. At E3 in 2005, a teaser video featured Jin Kazama demonstrating some martial arts moves. Jin's skin showed different scars and shades, giving it a sense of realism. Sweat could be seen evaporating from Jin's body and going down his face. At one point, when he touches his flesh, it moves along with the movement of some sweat droplets. The video portrayed a similar dynamic look that Tekken has followed over the years. At E3 in 2006, another video was shown, featuring Jin Kazama fighting Lili in what appeared to be a deserted church, similar to a stage in Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection. As the fight rolls on, Hwoarang appears, crashing through a stain glass window. Much to Jin's surprise, he leaves his guard open only to be kicked straight into the air by Lili. Soon after, Hwoarang jumps off his bike, having it collide and explode into Jin. The smoke clears, and Jin has transformed into Devil Jin. He then rushes down to the ground to attack Hwoarang, but is countered and sent retreating into the air. The last part of the scene depicts Devil Jin shooting a laser beam into another nearby building and having it collapse and crash into the area where both Lili and Hwoarang are standing. The official trailer shows some gameplay of Tekken 6. It also featured three new characters, Leo, Zafina, and Miguel Caballero Rojo (most people did ot notice his appearance, though), as well as a new version of "Jack", Jack-6. Others, such as Armor King, Asuka Kazama, Bryan Fury, and Sergei Dragunov were present and fighting in this trailer. The trailer ends with Bryan Fury firing a shotgun to finish a combo. The most recent trailer shows the newest moves and attacks done by a character, the confirmed characters, new features, the rage system, the floors wall will now be broken and ascend to the lower level of the area and an unknown character that doesn't appear to be human (see Unknown Character).

[edit] Gameplay Videos

Last news: Some fighters in gameplay: ([1]),([2]), ([3]), ([4]), ([5]), ([6]), ([7]), ([8]).

[edit] Content

Director Katsuhiro Harada (who also directed Tekken 5) said that Tekken 6 will retain all of the elements from Tekken 5 and Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection that were well-received by fans. Harada also said that the stages will have more interactivity. Harada promised the greatest character count the series has ever seen, along with heavily customizable character costumes. Also, the character customization feature will be more involved with gameplay ([9]). A new game system is the "Rage System". The lower your lifebar, the more attack damage your character will do. There will also be collapsing stages, like in the "Dead or Alive" series ([10]).

[edit] Changes

  • Animations have been changed for every character.
  • Stages are connected, sometimes through levels, meaning that characters can be knocked through walls and floors.
  • All characters have an “item move”, as seen at the AOU trailer. Although not all of them will have the same effectiveness. Also, it seems that these items must be equipped when customizing a character in order to be used. A few examples of an “item move” are:
Bryan Fury shooting a shotgun at an enemy.
Anna Williams kicking off her high heels.
Marshall Law using nunchakus / nunchucks.
Leo wielding two pistols and can shoot two overhead shots.
Craig Marduk using an iron rod as a baseballbat.
Bruce Irvin summoning little chickens.
  • There is a "rage system" where the lower one's health is, the more damage is dealt with each hit.
  • So far, Yoshimitsu has gone under the most drastic change. Harada notes that it will be much more difficult to use Yoshimitsu this time around, and they consider him an “Expert” character. Part of his story includes the fact that his sword is now losing power, and he must take a new fighting style, Kenjutsu from the Manji clan, this includes both dual sword fighting and pure fist fighting.
  • A lot of Lei Wulong’s laying down stances have been changed. They look more like Lei Fei and Shun Di’s laying down stance from Virtua Fighter 5. They also changed the properties where Lei can be counter-hit and juggled out of his laying down stances.
  • Many changes were done to Marshall Law. It is noted that fans of Bruce Lee and those that know of Jeet Kune Do will be very pleased.
  • Minor changes have been made to the move lists of all the characters. This includes additions of new moves and losses of others such as Heihachi Mishima's Twin Pistons (d/f+1,2). In some cases, a move may simply have a new command.
  • The universal low parry no longer guarantees a launch.
  • All jabs are now universally 10 frames.
  • Some characters will have new costumes; others may have minor changes to their original costumes. (eg. Xiaoyu's main outfit was originally pink but in Tekken Dark Resurrection and Tekken 6, it is orange. Same with Jin and Lei (blue from green)). Tekken 6 might have 3 costumes for each character as shown in the latest gameplay videos.
  • Newly unveiled is the “bounce” effect used in juggles. Normally after moves that knock the opponent down in juggles and they can not tech roll, a new “bounce” comes into play. For example. Kazuya can now do EWGF, EWGF, 1, f+4 (bounce off the floor), into f,N,d,D/F+4,1!
