Story battle (formerly "arcade mode") is a 1 player fighting mode where the player chooses a character and they learn the story behind the character they selected. As of Tekken 4, the "story" feature has been given to this mode and arcade mode has been noting other than a mode where the player fights other characters but does not learn about the character's story.
