Hon-Maru is the sacred place where Heihachi Mishima trapped Jin Kazama and lured Kazuya Mishima to in Tekken 4. When Jin breaks free of his chains, he fights and defeats both Kazuya and Heihachi. Shortly after Jin leaves (by using his Devil wings to fly through the ceiling and away from the place), Hon-Maru is attacked by Jack-4 robots. For a while, Kazuya and Heihachi team up and fight together. But Kazuya turns on Heihachi, throws him to the Jacks, turns into Devil, and flies away. One Jack self-destructs, almost killing Heihachi.

[edit] Tekken 4 Stage Description

In Tekken 4, Hon-Maru is an unlockable stage. However, in Tekken 5, it is able to be played right from the start, but the place is on fire due to the explosion caused by one of the many Jack-4 robots that attacked it. The place is in the form of a rectangle. Hon-Maru appears to be entirely made of wood, as the floor makes creaking noises whenever it is stepped on.. There are also many flames held in bowl-like objects supported by bars that form an "X" formation in this place. Their purpose is to illuminate the arena. There are also many pillars in this place. There are three golden statues on one side, and there are doors on another side. An elevated floor, doors, walls, and wooden rails surround the fighters. Two sides of the walls, the sides that don't feature the doors or the statues, have a pattern of many small squares on the lower halves.

Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama are the only two characters that fight in this stage during Story Mode.

For the Tekken 5 Hon-Maru stage, see the "Burning Temple" article.
