[edit] Introduction

King is a character in the Tekken series, and the successor of the deceased King. King (the successor) first appeared in Tekken 3, and he has returned for Tekken Tag Tournament, Tekken 4, Tekken 5, and Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection. Also, King will appear in Tekken 6. Armor King taught King how to fight before The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3.

[edit] Trivia

  • King does not speak, but instead growls like a jaguar. These growls are however translated into speech in the subtitles of interludes in installment that feature such, and the people he interact with seem to clearly understand what he says.
  • King's bosses in the Tekken Force side game in Tekken 3 are (in order of appearance) Lei Wulong, Paul Phoenix, Nina Williams, and Heihachi Mishima.
  • As of Tekken 5, King seems to have drawn more professional wrestler-inspired moves into his repertoire, especially from superstars employed by the world-famous WWE, e.g. Stunner (Stone Cold Steve Austin), Tombstone Piledriver (The Undertaker), Elbow Drop and Rock Bottom (The Rock).
  • Not surprisingly, King also shares moves with other fighting game wrestlers, such as the Giant Swing also used by Wolf Hawkfield (Virtua Fighter) and Tina Armstrong (Dead Or Alive). Also, his Tekken 5 incarnation has a version of the Spinning Pile Driver (often abbreviated as SPD), the trademark command throw Zangief (Street Fighter).
  • One of King's victory poses shows him side-stepping in a manner displayed by Rey Mysterio. King is also seen in the opening FMV performing a 619 after being thrown across the wrestling ring by Marduk, in order to prevent a collision to the outside of the ring. The 619 is Mysterio's trademark move. Furthermore, both King and Rey Mysterio are masked Mexican wrestlers, who carry on the tradition from their predecessors, also named King and Rey Mysterio respectively. For a further similarity, "Rey Mysterio" means "The King of Mystery" in Spanish.
  • King's sub-bosses in Tekken 5 and Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection are Julia Chang and Craig Marduk.
  • In Tekken 3 and Tekken Tag Tournament, King's second costume has him wearing a similar mask to Armor King's black jaguar mask with one green eye and one red eye. In Tekken 5 and Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection, Armor King's mask is one of King's customization items.
  • Like several other characters, King has a special move in Tekken 5 and Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection. His special move consists of him "dancing" around his opponent ([1]). The command for this move is "1+2+3+4~1+2+3".

[edit] Version 1

King is a young man who was raised in the original King's orphanage. After being savagely attacked by Ogre, his mentor's dying wish was for King to take over the orphanage. He now fights as a pro-wrestler to support the orphanage.

[edit] Version 2

HEIR TO THE THRONE. He's really King the second. Raised in King's orphanage, he was 24 years old when the original King was killed. He put on the mask and assumed the role of King's successor, in order to honor his mentor and save the orphanage.

The new King had only watched his mentor and really was incapable of fulfilling the legend. Armor King, knowing who killed King, felt an obligation to prepare King the Second for a rightful revenge.

Four years have passed and King the Second is now a skillful wrestler. Feeling the time is right, Armor King tells his student that the God of Fighting was responsible for King's death. Armor King breaks down in tears as he tells the gruesome story. King the Second now knows his purpose in life.

[edit] Megafan magazine

A street urchin was brought up in a Mexican orphanage owned by the original fighter to bear the name 'King'. By the age of 24, this wrestler worked hard with King until one day, news broke of King's tragic death by unknown hands. Seeing that the orphanage would crumble into ruin (the money gained from King's wrestling matches was the only funding received), this man donned the mask of King and imitated his style. Unfortunately, he had only seen King's wrestling moves as a child, and he lost every competition he entered. One day however, another man with a mask visited the new King, introducing himself as an old friend. This fellow was Armor King, interested to find out if rumors of King's successor were true. Armor King was responsible for the first King's death, and full of remorse, he trained this new wrestler with a host of bone-crunching moves and more techniques besides. The guilt of the old King's death lay heavy on his shoulders, and training this new fighter to take King's throne was a ay of showing respect. For four years the two of them trained, and the new King learned quickly: maturing into a forceful wrestler with extreme power; known as King the Second. Told by Armor King hat the "God of Fight" killed King the First, this new player's rage became unstoppable. "My master died at his hands?" roared King the Second, "He shall pay with his miserable life!" King's trembling fists became wet with the tears of Armor King. With a nod of his head, King shook Armor King by the hand... an old friendship had been restored, and a grim secret would never be revealed. Now the new King must prove himself in the ring.

[edit] Ending Animation "Destiny"

King is wrestling against another wrestler and easily takes him out. Armor King is cheering him on from the background. King is awarded the championship belt when he notices that Armor King has left the arena. King runs to the dressing room where he finds Armor King sitting with his head down, maskless.

The man was currently serving time in an Arizona State Penitentiary. With the money he saved from professional wrestling tournaments, King arranged for the murderer’s release from prison and sent him a plane ticket.

With his plans in motion, King headed for the Tournament to await his sworn enemy, the Vale Tudo fighter.
