I read somewhere (the name and location eludes me at the moment) that the Marshall's and Forest's fighting style was slightly mis-translated as a small pun was missed. The official translation (incorrect) says Martial Arts, but the intended translation was Marshall Arts. This was a pun on Marshall's name.

This is an old rumor, and despite how often it has appeared on various sites on the web, there has, to my knowledge, actually never been any real proof (official statement or something similar) that it was mistranslated. So while the likelyhood of it being true is high, we don't know for sure.
