Introduction

Eddy Gordo first appeared in Tekken 3, and he has returned to every game released after. In Tekken 4 and Tekken 5, he was merely a "costume" swap for Christie Monteiro. However, in Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection onward, he is given his own character space.

For his debut in Tekken 3, Eddy entered in order to find his parents murderer. He was included in Tekken 4, and it was stated in Christie's epilogue that he still continued his search for his parents murderer. He did not have his own opening, character space, or ending, similar to Miharu Hirano. In Tekken 5 and Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection, Eddy, alongside Christie, tried to win the Tournament to gain access to the Mishima Zaibatsu's resources in order to save his master, Ho Chi Myong.

Eddy is generally calm and serious most of the time. Whenever he has his mind set on a goal, he will devote whatever skills he has to it such as avenging his parents and finding a cure for his dying master.

His title in the original trilogy is Avenger.

Ending (Unofficial Synopsis)
Christie Monteiro has defeated Heihachi Mishima and won the tournament. The audience is cheering for her. People are walking up to her, taking photos of her and complimenting her about her victory. One man starts to interview her about her victory. Christie is very nonchalant throughout this. A man in a suit walks up to her, holding a golden trophy that is shaped like Heihachi's head. Two women are behind this man. Christie looks through the crowd and sees Eddy, who has a sling on one of his arms. Christie starts to run up to him while yelling, "Eddy!", twice. An echo of her saying this is heard after the second time she says it. Christie runs up to him and hugs him. Eddy hugs her with his other arm (the arm that doesn't have a sling around it). Christie says, "Eddy...", and then she closes her eyes and smiles.

Trivia

  • Eddy's Stage 7 sub-boss is Kazuya Mishima.
  • In Tekken 4, Eddy is selectable by pressing "Triangle" while on Christie at the "Character Select" screen.

Interludes (Unofficial Synopsis)
Stage 4 Christie Monteiro: Eddy and Christie get into a dispute over who should be the one to advance forward in the tournament. They fight afterwards, with Eddy coming out victorious. Eddy promises to return to her.
Stage 7 Kazuya Mishima: Eddy recognizes Kazuya as the the man who framed him for the murder of his parents. Kazuya then deducts that Eddy must be "the son of those rich Brazilians." Eddy threatens to kill Kazuya for what he did. After having won, Eddy calls out to his father, saying that he has finally avenged him, before proceeding with the tournament so that he can win money for his master's medical bills.
Final Stage Jinpachi Mishima: Eddy walks through Final Stage 2. Jinpachi (in human form) walks up behind him and says, "I'm impressed that you've made it this far." (Eddy turns around upon hearing Jinpachi's voice) "I am Jinpachi Mishima. My goal... My goal is to destroy all existence!" After he finishes speaking, Jinpachi transforms into his "Devil" form.
Ending (Unofficial Synopsis)
Christie and Eddy are sitting outside of an operating room. The light on top of the door (which says 'Operating') goes off. The scene changes. Eddy and Christie are outside training. Ho Chi Myong then comes an interrupts the session. Eddy sits out and watches Christie and Ho Chi Myong as they practice.

Trivia

  • Eddy is selectable by first purchasing Christie's alternate costume in the "Customize" section. Afterwards, he can be chosen by pressing "Triangle" or "Circle" while on Christie at the "Character Select" screen.

Ending (Unofficial Synopsis)
Christie is shown standing at a grave with a coffin that hasn't been buried yet. Her grandfather has died. Christie places both hands together and weeps for her fallen grandpa. Suddenly, Eddy Gordo arrives and stands next to her. Christie slaps him in the face asking him where he was, but then gives up and places her hands and head onto his chest as she cries. Eddy clenches his fist and throws a pin badge to the ground, breaking it slightly. Jin Kazama's branding/tattoo is shown on the triangular shaped badge.

Trivia

  • In an early Tekken 6 image, Eddy appeared to be returning as a costume swap for Christie Monteiro ([1]). However, this was revealed to be false, as Tekken 6's "Character Select" screen shows that Eddy has his own character space ([2]).
  • In the Scenario Campaign mode, Eddy is shown in a cutscene with Nina Williams and Jin Kazama after Lars attacked the lab Alisa was in. Eddy tells Jin that he'll hold his part of the deal for saving his master's life.
  • In the Scenario Campaign mode, Eddy serves as the boss of the "Tekken Force 4th Special Forces Operational Group Command" stage.
  • Eddy's first three opponents in Scenario Campaign's "Arena" mode are Lars Alexandersson, Anna Williams, and Kazuya Mishima.

Ending (Unofficial Synopsis)
Eddy and Tiger practice Capoeira on a beach

Trivia

  • There is a glitch with Eddy (and Tiger) when he is used as a Practice Mode dummy. All attacks performed on Eddy are read as a combo string, it doesn't reset until you hit him to the ground or into full crouch.

Eddy vs Forest and Law

Gameplay

Eddy will be featured as a playable character in Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

Story

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is a non-canonical Tekken game containing no plot.

Ending (Unofficial Synopsis)

The screen first shows an orphanage that was supposedly built by Eddy. He is seen inside the orphanage teaching the children Capoeira. Later Christie is seen getting off a train and later heads off. Eddy leaves the children and tells them that he has things to do. A child asks Eddy if he is out for the man that killed his father. Eddy just tells the child to resume the training and that he will be back for them. Christie later arrives and asks the children of Eddy's whereabouts only to find out that he has already left. She later tries to chase him after giving the children the same advice Eddy had given them

Trivia

  • He has a special tag throw with Christie or Tiger. He will perform Rodeo spin around the opponents head and when they're confused he slams them to the ground and then his partner will perform "Slippery Kicks" and whoever is tagged in will perform "Perch Flop Kick" on the opponent from there. (this also applies vice versa among the three characters.)
  • His item move shows him hitting his opponent while dancing on a pole
  • Strangely his face in his own character box is a close up of his Tekken 6 BR CG art rather than his Tekken Tag Tournament 2 CG Art
  • This is the first time Eddy has spoken in his own ending and is also the first time since Christie's debut, for the two not to share an ending

Character Trivia

  • Namco invited Mestre Marcelo to Japan and digitized his moves for the use of Eddy Gordo, Christie Monteiro and Tiger Jackson.
  • Eddy Gordo's nickname, Faisca, means "spark" in Portuguese and was used by Mestre Marcelo as a nickname to one of his students.
  • Eddy is the only character to have a facial piercing - his left eyebrow.
  • Some of Eddy's moves are gymnastics, not capoeira. Specifically the flare, windmill, and handstand movements.
  • Eddy is mentioned in comedian Dane Cook's skit about the time he saw a guy getting hit by a car {"He goes flying through the air like Eddy Gordo from Tekken when somebody doesn't know the moves and they're just pressing buttons..."}.
  • In the game-to-film adaptation, Tekken, stunt performer Lateef Crowder of ZeroGravity played the role of Eddy due to his real-life Capoeira skills and resemblance to Eddy. In contrast to the game, Eddy and Christie are not related in any way, as her love interest is Jin Kazama.
  • Unfortunately, Eddy's name in the movie is misspelled. It is presented as 'Eddie'.
  • Eddy rivals in Tekken Card Challenge are Ling Xiaoyu, King, and Julia Chang.
